The History

Of the crane

Nestled high above the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam-Noord, the Crane Hotel Faralda is a unique blend of history and luxury. Housed within the iconic NDSM Crane 13, this hotel stands as a testament to the city’s industrial heritage. Originally built in the 1950s, the crane served Amsterdam’s bustling shipyard until it fell into disuse in 1984.

After years of neglect, the crane was saved from demolition by visionary developer Edwin Kornmann Rudi, who spearheaded its restoration and transformation. Following a meticulous restoration process in 2013, the crane returned to Amsterdam, now reborn as the Crane Hotel Faralda. Opened in 2014, the hotel offers three luxurious suites, each perched high above the city.

Lauded for its innovative design, the Crane Hotel Faralda has become a symbol of Amsterdam’s resilience and creativity. It offers guests an unforgettable stay in a piece of living history, with breathtaking views and unmatched exclusivity.
